About Ice Dance

Ice Dance is a form of ballroom dancing on the ice.  Skaters perform a variety of turns, steps, twizzles, spins and lifts.  In ice dance, skaters must skate to music with a definite beat or rhythm which brings out the character and flavour of that particular dance.

Ice Dance now has two disciplines.  To date Ice Dance has been performed as a couple with a female and male partner.  However Solo Ice Dance has now become the latest figure skating discipline which allows skaters to perform ice dance without the need for a partner.
