Skating history made by Hana

This morning (Australian time) at the ISU Junior Grand Prix event in Abu Dhabi, Hana Bath made history by becoming the first Australian women to win a silver medal at a Grand Prix event. She also became the first Australian female skater to land not just two triple axels in a free skate, but also landed a triple axel/triple toe loop combination.

Stephanie Zhang was the last Australian skater to win a JGP medal, when in 2000 she won the bronze at the Cup of China JGP.

Following on from an excellent short program with a score of 62.98, Hana smashed her personal best free skating score earning 129.74 points, resulting in a total combined score of 192.72 points for the silver medal.

Combined with her fourth place finish at the Bangkok JGP earlier in the series, Hana is now first substitute for the Junior Grand Prix Final.

Congratulations to Hana from ISA on your fantastic performances and achieving the silver medal at this event.
