Aussie Figure Skaters Shine at Four Continents Championship

Congratulations to our Australian team who competed at the Four Continents Championship from January 21st to 25th in Beijing, China.

For our Ice Dance and Pair teams it was an important event in the lead up to the 2026 Winter Olympics which will be taking place from February 6th to 22nd in Milano Cortino, Italy.

First to compete were our ice dancers Holly Harris and Jason Chan. Unfortunately they missed the 2022 Olympics. However this time they earned their rightful place by coming second at the qualification event which was held in September last year.

Holly and Jason had excellent performances in both the Rhythm Dance (finishing 5th with a score of 68.33) and Free Dance (6th place scoring 108.75). They finished 5th overall which is the highest placed finish for an Australian team at a 4CC.

In the Pairs, it was Anastasia Golubeva and Hektor Giotopoulos Moore competing in their first event due to injury last year. It was a bit of tough skate for both of them, however they showed the quality that made them Junior World silver medalists and they are bringing a greater maturity to their performances. They finished in 8th place in the Short Program (59.27) and 11th place in the Free Skating (82.68), resulting in an 11th placement overall.

Douglas Gerber was our representative in the Mens event. He gave two excellent performances which included the 3 Axel in both programs. He earnt personal best scores for both programs. His Short Program score of 64.55 had him in 18th place and his Free Skating Score of 124.51 was 19th, finishing in 19th place overall.

Well done to our skaters and wishing all the best for Holly, Jason, Anastasia and Hektor for the Winter Olympics. It should be a fantastic experience to compete on the biggest showcase for our sport and Australia will be cheering you on.
