2026 Australian Adult Figure Skating Championships
In one of the biggest developments for Adult Skating in Australia the inaugural Australian Adult Figure Skating Championships (AAFSC) took place in Brisbane at Boondall Iceworld from 6th to 8th March.
Adult Skating has been one of the largest growth areas of figure skating over the last few years, with skaters either transitioning from ISA divisions to Adult, coming back to the sport after a hiatus of sometime years, or new adults who have found the sport that inspires them. It was recognized a couple of years ago by ISA Board and delegates, as well as members of the Adult Skating community, that it was time for adult skaters to have their own national championships.
This event also saw the inclusion of Bronze and Solo Dance in a national championship and the age splits provided more opportunities for skaters to participate which meant it required 3 days. Over 130 skaters participated, showing how well supported it was.
There was some excellent quality of skating throughout all the divisions and it reflected well on the standard. The feedback from skaters and officials was extremely positive, with a great atmosphere from the audience and a fantastic level of sportsmanship from everyone who participated.
The event finished with the party on Sunday night where everyone let loose with the photo stand and a DJ pumping out some classic dance floor hits. There were a few awards and presentations which took place (more information to come).

Also thanks to the officials, including judges, technical panels, announcers, music stewards, gate marshals, flower kids, registration desk, practice session runners, etc who volunteered their time to make the event run smoothly.
